What About Safety

This topic is talked about a lot on the job. We have meetings, procedures, training exercises, and watch videos all for the purpose to work in a safe environment. I’m sure all would agree that this is a good thing. No one I know wants to get hurt or see anyone else get hurt.

I’m sure you’ve heard “Accidents Don’t Just Happen, They Are Caused”. I say maybe, maybe not. We are not perfect and do not live in a perfect world.

I have no problem with an investigation being done after an accident has occurred to determine what went wrong so we can prevent it from happening again.

I do have a problem with an investigation being done after an accident has occurred to determine who we are going to blame and what disciplinary action is implemented so we can prevent it from happening again.

The reason being is this seems selective and one-sided.
Enough said.
